Lolwut?!

Forgive me poor blog for forgetting about you 😦

Change is coming into my life. It’s coming hard and fast. And it’s sparkling the craziest ideas in my head.

Many projects to come.

Stay tuned!

Creation

Why am I so scared to create? I feel there is something deep inside me blocking me. I just stare at this blank page and believe I am not worthy of it.

So I just feel comfortable getting caught up in my everyday life and ignore it. But it is so frustrating.

This not how I wanted my life to be.

Writing is probably not the right medium anymore…

Out of the Box Mix

Having a small playlist as an update may make me look like I’m lazy but trust me it is good stuff… and I promise a badass article soon.

Mother Mother – Wrecking Ball
Ok I really need someone to explain me why such bands are not more popular. I mean… Justin Bieber? Really? Canadian indie rock that will make you all chirpy and happy. All their other stuff is gold. Trust me.

Dragonette – My Things
Dragonette’s electro will make you want to put on your high heels and say : Put my things back in the box.

Adele – Hometown Glory
I discovered this tune when watching Skins, back when the show was actually good. I think it’s one of the last episodes of season 2 where Cassie ends up in New York. It fit perfectly. Skins has always been known for having the greatest music. And Adele… I thought she was black! Ha. You go girl! Oh and by the way, great directing for a live performance.

Robyn – Handle Me
I love it when Robyn is not being too mainstream. Despite what many people say, I think she’s got style, she’s beautiful (that’s maybe the lesbian in me) and she’s a musical genius. Don’t hate her for her Cobrastyle cover. Konichiwa Bitches!

TTC – Travailler
This is how French hip hop should sound like. One the few things about our music that makes me proud to be French… and want to pump it on the dancefloor!

Robots in Disguise – Turn it up
British pop rock really is the best. These girls do rock my socks off! I want them. Both. At the same time. Oh and please… Turn it up!

K’s Choice – Believe
This is the kind of song that makes me miss the 90s. Sarah’s voice is so haunting. “I’m not an addict” is just one example. Belgium doesn’t only have chocolate or fries to gloat about! Oh well. I guess it’s just I have my own relationship with the lyrics…

Norwegian Recycling – Singularity
I love mash ups. Sometimes it sounds like crap but this guy masters it so perfectly. It’s insane. It should be a song on its own. Even makes Iyaz sound good.

That is it. I just realized the playlist is very female oriented.
Oh well.
Let’s all throw our bras in the air!

What does it mean to have your own box… I mean business.

Two weeks ago, I was at the Young Entrepreneurs Unconvention, hosted by The Entourage, a community for Australia’s… young entrepreneurs of course. And Yes, you did read the name correctly, the event was clearly unconventional. Even if my main goal was to get some contacts for my thesis, my hidden aspiration was to find some inspiration and drive. And, oh boy, I did. This day was packed: amazing speakers, networking sessions, pitching competition…
But clearly I don’t want to rant about how great the event was because you wouldn’t care.
There is only one thing that came in contradiction with what my personal view of being an entrepreneur was, and it was actually what two of the speakers were all about. Jack Delosa, who heads up the Entourage, is one of Australia’s top entrepreneurs (he’s younger than me!) and is mentored by Domenic Carosa who was Australia’s youngest publicly listed CEO at 25 and is now running an investment fund focused on high growth internet companies.
Basically, their credo was: you have to start with the end in mind. In other words, entrepreneurs make the most money out of exiting a business. Most of your work should revolve around making your company scaleable and saleable. In any way, you usually end up outgrowing the business or getting outgrown.
You do have to agree that it is somewhat hard to accept when you want to start your business… Your great idea… Your passion… Your little baby, for which you have been spending so much time and money. You are bound to get quite emotional right?
Maybe it’s ego (you have to have some to go through all the hardships), maybe it’s just being an idealist. It’s just actually a problem that a lot of entrepreneurs face. It even arises as early as the point where you have to start delegating. Even if you know you have to get rid of everything that doesn’t generate income and is wasting your precious time. And even if selling doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not in charge anymore, it is still hard to know when you have reached that selling point.
In the end, maybe all you are left with, as Siimon Reynolds (who is as much a respected marketing expert as a fantastic speaker) says, is the fact that you are making the future of the world and having bigger balls than everyone else.
What do you think?

Flash post from my bed

I just realized that most of my tweets are full of things I would love to blog about.
However, I can’t put my finger on wheter it is shyness or laziness that keeps me from doing so.
And now I’m reflecting on my blogging history. Which is actually quite laughable. Maybe I should do a compilation of my old posts. Like a best of.
I used to be very personal when blogging.
Maybe I should go back to that a little bit too…
